Organize reminder lists on Mac
You can arrange the reminder lists in the sidebar using several methods. You can drag your reminder lists into any order you like, group lists together, and pin lists to the top. Command-click or Shift-click to select multiple reminders or lists.
Note: All Reminders features described in this guide are available when using updated iCloud reminders. Some features aren’t available when using accounts from other providers.
Reorder or rename reminder lists
In the Reminders app on your Mac, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Do any of the following:
Reorder reminder lists: Drag reminder lists or groups up or down in the sidebar. (You can’t drag a list to a different account.)
Rename reminder lists: Control-click the name of a reminder list, choose Rename, enter a new name for the list, then press Return.
Group reminder lists
Tip: Click a group name in the sidebar to see the reminders from each list in the group at once.
In the Reminders app on your Mac, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Do any of the following:
Create a new reminder list group: Select one or more reminder lists in the sidebar, choose File > New Group, enter a name for the group, the press Return.
You can also select one or more reminder lists in the sidebar, drag them to another list, then enter a name for the new group.
Move reminder lists into an existing group: Select one or more reminder lists in the sidebar, then drag them to the group.
Change the name of a reminder list group: Control-click a group name in the sidebar, choose Rename Group, enter a new name for the group, then press Return.
Open a reminder list group in a separate window: Control-click a group name in the sidebar, then choose Open Group in New Window.
Delete a reminder list group: Control-click a group name in the sidebar, then choose Delete. If you want to keep the reminder lists and the reminders in the group, select the Keep Lists checkbox. Click Delete.
If someone shared a list with you, you can’t add it to a group.
Pin reminder lists
After you pin a list, it moves to the top section of the sidebar. To move a pinned list back down to the lower section of the sidebar, unpin it.
Quickly access pinned lists using keyboard shortcuts—just press Command-[list number]. To find the number assigned to each list, choose View > Go To.
In the Reminders app on your Mac, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Do any of the following:
Pin a reminder list: Control-click the name of a reminder list, then choose Pin List.
Unpin a reminder list: Control-click a pinned list, then choose Unpin List.
Note: You can have a total of up to nine pinned lists and standard Smart Lists.
