Rename mailboxes in Mail on Mac
You can rename mailboxes in the Mail sidebar.
If you have an IMAP account, make sure your account is online before you rename any of the mailboxes; also make sure the new name isn’t used for another mailbox.
In the Mail app
on your Mac, select a mailbox in the Mail sidebar, then click its name. You can also force click the mailbox in the sidebar.
Type a new name for the mailbox.
Some mail servers may not accept certain characters, such as a forward slash (/).
If you use the Finder to rename mailboxes, the changes may not appear in Mail.
