MacBook Pro (16-inch, M5 Pro or M5 Max) Audio Board
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
EarPods with 3.5 mm headphone plug
Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the two 5IP screws from the audio board.
Short upper 5IP screw (923-13427) (1)
Long lower 5IP screw (923-13428) (2)

Lift the audio board out of the top case.

Reassembly
Position the audio board in the top case.

Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to partially reinstall two 5IP screws into the audio board.
Short upper screw (923-13427) (1)

Long lower screw (923-13428) (2)


Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm.
Gently push the audio board to hold it in place against the edge of the top case.
Important: Slide a finger along the outer side of the top case to ensure that the 3.5 mm headphone jack is flush with the top case edge.

Plug the EarPods into the headphone jack to ensure audio board alignment. Adjust the alignment of the audio board until the plug is easy to insert and remove.
Use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to fully reinstall the two 5IP screws (1, 2) into the audio board. Then unplug the EarPods.
