If your AirPods or AirPods Pro won't connect

If your AirPods or AirPods Pro won't connect to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, try to pair your AirPods to your device again.

  1. Update your iPhone or iPad or update your Mac to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS.

  2. Put both AirPods in the charging case and make sure that both AirPods are charging.

  3. Make sure that Bluetooth is on:

    • On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth on iPhone or iPad.

    • On Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Bluetooth.

  4. Open Control Center on your device, tap or click the AirPlay button:

    • If your AirPods appear in the list of devices, select them, then test them by playing audio from your device. Make sure the volume on your device is turned up.

    • If your AirPods don't appear in the list of devices, or they do appear but won't connect, go to the next step.

  5. Close the lid, wait 15 seconds, then open the lid.

  6. Do the following, depending on which AirPods you have:

    • For AirPods 4 (both models), double-tap the front of the case until the status light flashes white.

  8. Follow the steps on the screen of your device.

  9. If you still can't connect, reset your AirPods.
