iPhone 17 Pro Max Front Camera
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
The front camera includes one or more lasers. Disassembly of the front camera, damage to the front camera, or failure to use genuine Apple parts could expose you to hazardous infrared laser emissions, possibly resulting in injuries to eyes or skin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
ESD-safe tweezers
Nitrile or lint-free gloves
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (black, 0.35 kgf cm)
Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Caution
Wearing nitrile or lint-free gloves is recommended to prevent contamination of the camera lenses.
Important
If you replace this part, it's required to run Repair Assistant in order to enable security features. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use a torque driver and the trilobe bit to remove one trilobe screw from the front camera connector cowling.
Remove the front camera connector cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the ends of the front camera flex cables off the connectors.
Note: The front camera flex cables are stacked on top of each other. Lift the end of the top flex cable off the connector. Then lift the end of the other flex cable off the connector.
Lift the front camera out of the enclosure.

Caution
Avoid touching the front camera assembly, grounding springs, or nearby parts.
If you’re installing a replacement front camera, inspect it for damage, but leave the camera cap on.
If the camera cap on a replacement part is damaged or missing, order a new replacement part.


Tilt the front camera at a 45-degree angle as you lower it into the enclosure.
Important: Ensure that the top edge of the front camera is aligned with the lip of the enclosure.
Route the flex cables alongside the camera and top speaker.
Press the ends of the bottom flex cable to the connector. Then press the end of the top flex cable to the connector.
Important: Ensure that both flex cables are securely attached to the connectors.
Reinstall the front camera connector cowling. Hook the cowling tab into place first. Then lay the cowling flat over the ends of the front camera flex cables.
Use the black torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-13720) into the front camera connector cowling.
Caution: Don’t remove the camera cap until just before you apply the replacement display adhesive. Ensure that the camera is properly aligned when reinstalling the display.
Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
