Automated Device Enrolment options for Apple devices
Apple devices whose serial numbers appear in Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager can be automatically enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution. For these devices, the following enrolments options can be configured.
Note: To learn which MDM enrolment options are supported for your devices, consult your MDM vendor’s documentation.
Option | Usage |
---|---|
Prompt user to enrol device | The device prompts the user to enrol the device in MDM, and you can specify the settings below. |
Prevent unenrolment | A supervised iOS or iPadOS device can’t be unenrolled by the user. Mac computers can be unenrolled if the user has Super User (root) access. |
Require credentials for enrolment | Users need to authenticate to a directory service before they enrol a device in MDM. |
Automatically advance through Setup Assistant | A supervised Apple TV is automatically configured without any user intervention, provided no other Setup Assistant panes are enabled. |
Supervise device (iOS 12 or earlier) | The device is supervised during enrolment and can’t be unenrolled by the user. |
The following options can be configured when supervision is enabled.
Option | Usage |
---|---|
Configure as Shared iPad | Students can’t use Shared iPad. |
Number of Shared iPad users | Enter the number of students who may potentially use this iPad. For best results, the number of students should be low. |
