Restrictions can be enabled or in some cases, disabled to prevent users from accessing a specific app, service or function of the device. Restrictions are sent to devices in a restrictions payload, which is attached to a configuration profile. For example, a restriction can be enabled that prevents an iOS or iPadOS device from using the camera to take pictures or videos. Another restriction can be added to prevent FaceTime video and audio calls on the iOS, iPadOS or macOS device.
Restrictions can be applied to iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS devices. To learn which MDM restrictions are supported for your devices, consult your MDM solution’s documentation.
To set restrictions in Apple Configurator 2 and Profile Manager, see MDM overview.
Note: All the restriction tables are sorted by the newest restrictions at the top of each table. Your MDM solution may organise them differently.
