Change preferences in FaceTime on Mac
In the FaceTime app on your Mac, use FaceTime preferences to change default options for using FaceTime.
To change these preferences, sign in with your Apple ID, then choose FaceTime > Preferences. You can set the following options in Settings and Blocked.

Sign Out | Stop receiving FaceTime calls or phone calls on your Mac. You need to sign in again to use FaceTime. See Sign in to or out of FaceTime. Note: Instead of signing out of or turning off FaceTime, you can turn on Do Not Disturb in Control Centre, which prevents notifications from disturbing you. See Use Do Not Disturb. | ||||||||||
Enable this account | Deselect to stop receiving FaceTime calls or phone calls on your Mac. You can set up the account without signing in again. See Sign in to or out of FaceTime. | ||||||||||
You can be reached for FaceTime at | Select the tickboxes next to the email addresses and phone numbers that other people can use to call you in FaceTime. You can update this list on the Apple ID account website. See Choose how people can call you in FaceTime. | ||||||||||
Calls from iPhone | If you set up your iPhone and Mac for phone calls, select to allow your Mac to use your iPhone to make and receive phone calls. These calls use mobile network minutes. | ||||||||||
Upgrade to Wi-Fi Calling | Allow your Mac to use your iPhone to make and receive phone calls in FaceTime. This option only appears when you select Calls from iPhone and your iPhone is turned off or on a different Wi-Fi network. | ||||||||||
Automatic Prominence: Speaking | For Group FaceTime calls, deselect to prevent the tile of the person speaking from becoming larger. | ||||||||||
Allow Live Photos to be captured during video calls | Allow the other person to capture a Live Photo from your Mac, iOS device or iPadOS device during a FaceTime video call. See Take a Live Photo. | ||||||||||
Start new calls from | If you have more than one email address or phone number set up, choose which one others see when you call them. | ||||||||||
Ringtone | Choose the sound that is played when you receive a call. See Change FaceTime ringtones. | ||||||||||
Location | Change the country or region that your FaceTime account is registered as being in to ensure your calls use the correct telephone number format. | ||||||||||
Default for calls | If you have more than one calling app on your Mac, choose the default app to start calls from. This also includes calls started from URLs in a telephone format. | ||||||||||
