View and remove your devices that are associated with your Apple Account for purchases

Manage the list of devices that can download and play items that you bought with your Apple Account.

About associated devices

Associated devices aren't the same as the devices that you’re currently signed in to with your Apple Account. You can find out where you're signed in on your Apple Account page.

You can have ten devices (no more than five computers) associated with your Apple Account for purchases at one time.

Use a computer to view your associated devices

You can use your Mac or Windows PC to view a list of devices associated with your Apple Account for purchases.

On Mac

  1. Open the Apple Music app or Apple TV app.

  2. From the Account menu in the menu bar, choose Account Settings. You may need to sign in to your Apple Account.

  3. Scroll down and click Manage Devices. If no devices are associated with your Apple Account, this section won’t appear.

If your device isn’t on the list and you can’t use it to make purchases, that device may be vintage or obsolete.

On Windows

  1. Open the Apple Music app or Apple TV app.

  2. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Or, click Sign In and sign in to your Apple Account.

  3. Choose View My Account. You may need to sign in to your Apple Account.

  4. Scroll down and click Manage Devices. If no devices are associated with your Apple Account, this section won’t appear.

If your device isn’t on the list and you can’t use it to make purchases, that device may be vintage or obsolete.

Remove an associated device

You might want to remove an associated device if:

  • You reach your limit of associations and want to add a new device.

  • You can’t redownload purchases from the App Store, Apple TV app, and other Apple services.

  • You want to sell or give away an associated device.

On Mac

  1. Open the Apple Music app or Apple TV app.

  2. From the Account menu in the menu bar, choose Account Settings. You may need to sign in to your Apple Account.

  3. Scroll down and click Manage Devices.

  4. To remove an associated device, click Remove.

If you can’t remove a device

Sign out of your Apple Account on that device and try again. If you still can’t remove it, you might need to wait up to 90 days to associate the device with a different Apple Account.

On Windows

  1. Open the Apple Music app or Apple TV app.

  2. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Or, click Sign In and sign in to your Apple Account.

  3. Click View My Account. You may need to sign in to your Apple Account.

  4. Scroll down and click Manage Devices.

  5. To remove an associated device, click Remove.

If you can’t remove a device

Sign out of your Apple Account on that device and try again. If you still can’t remove it, you might need to wait up to 90 days to associate the device with a different Apple Account.

Remove your associated iPhone or iPad

  1. In Settings, tap your name.

  2. Tap Media & Purchases. You may be asked to sign in to your Apple Account.

  3. Scroll down, then tap Remove This Device.

If you want to add a new device to the list

Use the device you would like to add to make a purchase from the App Store, Apple TV app or another Apple service.

If the device you want to add was previously associated

When you try to associate a device that was previously associated, you might notice a message that says, “This device is associated with another Apple Account. You cannot associate this device with another Apple Account for [number] days.” You might need to wait up to 90 days to associate the device with a different Apple Account.
