iTunes uses Windows proxy server settings to access various Apple services, such as the iTunes Store. Make sure that the settings are correct, and fix any connection issues that you might have.
- If it's open, close iTunes.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard. If your keyboard doesn't have a Windows key, press the Ctrl and Esc keys on your keyboard.
- Click the magnifying glass icon or the search field.
- In the search field, type
- In the search results, click
inetcpl.cplto open Internet Properties.
- In the Internet Properties window, click the Connections tab.
- Click "LAN settings."
- Look for the Proxy server area. If the checkbox next to "Use a proxy server for your LAN" is selected, deselect it.
- Click OK to close the LAN Settings window.
- Click OK to close the Internet Properties window.
- Open iTunes and try to connect to the iTunes Store.
If the issue persists, follow these steps:
- From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Help > Run Diagnostics.
- Select the checkbox next to "Network connectivity tests," click Next, then click Next again. (If other checkboxes are selected, deselect them.)
- After the test completes, click Next, then scroll to the bottom of the box under iTunes Diagnostics Complete. If the connection attempt tests were successful, but you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, software that monitors your Internet connection might be interfering with iTunes. - Click Close to exit the diagnostics window.
