How to get the next generation of Apple Intelligence

The next generation of Apple Intelligence is integrated deeply into the OS and powers helpful features across apps that simplify the things you do every day, from browsing the web, to generating images in virtually any style, staying on top of your communication and schedule, editing photos, and more.

The next generation of Apple Intelligence is automatically available on eligible devices when you update to the 27.0 software releases across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS in supported languages and regions.

Device requirements

Apple Intelligence in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27 is available on iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPad mini (A17 Pro), MacBook Neo (A18 Pro), iPad models with M1 or later, Mac with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3 when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone; some features require iPhone nearby.

System requirements

  • iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, visionOS 27, watchOS 27

  • Up to 14 GB of storage on device for iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPad models with M4 and later and at least 12GB of unified memory, Mac models with M3 and later and at least 12GB of unified memory, and Apple Vision Pro (M5)

  • Up to 8 GB of storage for other Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro models*

  • Up to 1.5GB of storage is required on Apple Watch

  • Device language and Siri language set to the same supported language

If you change Siri language, Apple Intelligence may become unavailable until the new Siri language fully downloads and matches the device language.

Supported languages and regions

With iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, many Apple Intelligence features are available in most regions around the world on compatible iPhone, iPad, and Mac models. Apple Intelligence is available with support for these languages: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Japanese, and Korean. Some features may not be available in regions or all languages. Some Apple Intelligence features are available in these languages with watchOS 27 when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone.

With visionOS 27, many Apple Intelligence features are available on Apple Vision Pro in English, French, German, Italian, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.

Feature availability can vary by platform, language and region. Apple Intelligence will continue to work when you travel to other regions around the world.

For European Union residents

The next generation of Apple Intelligence features across apps—such as advanced photo-editing, the reimagined Image Playground, and intelligent features for browsing—are available for users based in the EU with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 on supported iPhone and iPad models, with macOS 27 Golden Gate on supported Mac models, and with visionOS 27.

For China residents

Apple Intelligence features will not currently work for supported devices purchased in China mainland. For supported devices purchased outside China mainland, Apple Intelligence features will not currently work if you are in China mainland and if your Apple Account Country or Region is also in China mainland.

When Apple Intelligence is available in China mainland, previously-purchased devices that support Apple Intelligence will be able to activate and start using a core set of Apple Intelligence features in that region. New Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China while Apple works through regulatory requirements.

Feature Usage Limits

Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits, including but not limited to Siri AI, Intelligent Photo Editing Tools, Image Playground, and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts. Daily limits may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors. Expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future.   1. An Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, with Location Services enabled for the Home app and Home accessories, is required for notification summarisation. HomeKit Secure Video descriptions and search also requires the home owner to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and subscribe to an eligible iCloud+ plan. For all of these features, Apple Intelligence must be enabled in the Home app and requires a compatible Home hub such as HomePod (2nd generation), HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K with the latest operating system software.

  2. Live Translation in Messages supports English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Turkish and Vietnamese. Live Translation in Messages works on supported iPhone, iPad and Mac, as well as Apple Watch Series 9 and later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later and SE 3 when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone.

  3. Live Translation in Phone and FaceTime supports English (US, UK), French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), Chinese (Mandarin, simplified) and Chinese (Mandarin, traditional).

  4. Live Translation with AirPods works on AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation and later, AirPods Pro 2 and later, and AirPods Max 2 with the latest firmware when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, and supports English (US, UK), French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), Chinese (Mandarin, simplified), and Chinese (Mandarin, traditional).

  5. Voicemail summaries are available in English (Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK, US), French (Canada, France), German (Germany), Japanese (Japan), Korean (South Korea), Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Mexico, Spain, US), and traditional Chinese (Hong Kong, Taiwan).

  6. Notes transcription summaries are available in English (Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK, US), French (Canada, France), German (Germany), Italian (Italy), Japanese (Japan), Korean (South Korea), Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Mexico, Spain, US), and traditional Chinese (Hong Kong, Taiwan).

  7. Integration with ChatGPT is available only in regions where the ChatGPT app and service is available. Refer to OpenAI for ChatGPT availability.
