If you replace the SSD modules, you’ll need a separate Mac running the latest version of macOS to restore the Mac.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
- Use the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to remove the 8IP screw (923-12071) from the SSD module. - Mac mini (2024 with M4)
- Mac mini (2024 with M4 Pro)

- Pull the SSD module straight out of the SSD module connector on the logic board as shown. - Caution: Don't tilt the SSD module when removing it from the connector. A damaged connector requires a logic board replacement.
- Mac mini (2024 with M4)
- Mac mini (2024 with M4 Pro)

- Tilt up the end of SSD module just enough to clear the screw standoff as shown. Then remove the SSD module from the housing. - Caution: To avoid damaging the SSD module connector, ensure that the SSD module is fully removed from the connector before tilting up the SSD module. A damaged connector requires a logic board replacement.

- Mac mini (2024 with M4 Pro)

- Position the SSD module flat on the logic board. Then insert the SSD module into the SSD module connector on the logic board. - Mac mini (2024 with M4)
- Mac mini (2024 with M4 Pro)

- Set the torque value on the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver to 0.65 Nm.
- Use the adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to reinstall the 8IP screw (923-12071) into the SSD module. - Mac mini (2024 with M4)
