If Final Cut Camera isn’t working

Find out what to do if Final Cut Camera won’t open, won’t record or isn’t operating as expected in other ways.

Before proceeding, make sure you back up existing videos that have been recorded with Final Cut Camera and connect your device to a power source.

Try these steps in order

After trying each step in this list, test Final Cut Camera again to see if you’ve fixed your issue. If you’re having trouble with recording video, record a short test clip after each step.

  1. Restart devices

  2. Disconnect external devices

  3. Check system requirements

  4. Make sure the app is working as expected

  5. Update Final Cut Camera

  6. Remove and reinstall Final Cut Camera

Restart devices

Restart all of the devices you’re using with Final Cut Camera by turning them off and then turning them back on.

Disconnect external devices

If an external device, such as a microphone or storage device, is connected to your device, disconnect it:

  1. Turn off the iPhone oriPad you’re troubleshooting.

  2. Disconnect any external devices, external storage devices or microphones.

  3. Turn the iPhone or iPad on.

If the issue only occurs when a particular external device is connected, you may need to update or service the device. Contact the manufacturer for support.

Make sure the app is working as expected

Check the Final Cut Camera section of the Final Cut Pro for iPad User Guide for help with the Final Cut Camera app. You can review how to use the features of Final Cut Camera and search for key terms shown in the app, alerts, alert icons or error messages.

Update Final Cut Camera

  1. Try to complete all active projects.

  2. If you haven’t already, make sure you back up existing videos that have been recorded with Final Cut Camera.

  3. Update Final Cut Camera.

Remove and reinstall Final Cut Camera

When you remove the Final Cut Camera app from your device, any videos you’ve recorded to internal device storage will be deleted permanently.

  1. Try to complete all active projects that include videos you’ve recorded with Final Cut Camera.

  2. If you haven’t already, make sure you back up existing videos that have been recorded with Final Cut Camera.

  3. Touch and hold the app on the Home Screen, tap Remove App, then tap Delete App.

  4. To reinstall the app:

    • Open the App Store app, then tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.

    • Tap Apps, then tap My Apps.

    • Scroll down to find Final Cut Camera in the list, then tap the download button null to reinstall the app. When it’s ready to use, you can tap Open to open Final Cut Camera from the App Store.
