If you receive a “Cannot Verify AirPods” alert

If you receive this alert when you try to pair your AirPods with your iPhone or iPad, the headphones could not be verified as genuine and may not behave as expected.

You can choose to not connect your unverified headphones, or to connect them as standard non-Apple headphones in Bluetooth settings.

If you choose to connect the unverified headphones in Settings, you’ll receive a message in Settings > Bluetooth indicating that the headphones could not be verified as genuine AirPods and may not behave as expected.
