Create a workspace in Apple Vision Pro

Find out how to create a workspace in your Apple Vision Pro by opening apps, arranging them in the space and scaling them to the perfect size.

Open apps on Apple Vision Pro

  1. Press the Digital Crown to open Home View. If you see Environments View or People View, look to the left-hand tab bar and select the Apps View. You can also open Home View with Control Centre: look up, tap the Control Centre expand menu button near the top of your view to open Control Centre, then tap the Home View buttonNo alt supplied for image.

  2. Scroll horizontally or tap the Compatible Apps folder to see more apps.

  3. Look at an app and tap to open it.

  4. Press the Digital Crown again or use Control Centre to return to Home View and open another app. Repeat for each app that you want to open.

Move and resize apps to create a workspace

As you open apps, you can arrange them all around you to create the perfect workspace.

To move an app in Apple Vision Pro, look at the window bar (the horizontal white bar at the bottom of each app), then pinch and drag the window bar. Move it up and down and side to side, pull it closer to you or push it further away.

To resize an app, look at the bottom left-hand or bottom right-hand corner of the window, then pinch and drag the curved window bar that appears.

You can choose the default window size for apps and other Apple Vision Pro content. Go to Settings > Display > Appearance, then choose Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large. Windows and controls will appear larger or smaller based on your preference.

Re-centre your workspace if you move

If you move or face another direction after arranging apps, you can re-centre your workspace in front of you by pressing and holding the Digital Crown.

When you take off your Apple Vision Pro, your apps will stay where you placed them and your workspace will appear exactly as you left it the next time you put on your Apple Vision Pro. If you turn off or restart Apple Vision Pro, all of your apps will close and you’ll need to arrange a new workspace.

Close apps

To close an app, look at the dot next to the window bar at the bottom of the app, then tap it when it becomes a close buttonNo alt supplied for image. Find out how to force-quit an app if it won’t close.
