About subscription price changes
If your subscription price is scheduled to increase, you’ll be notified before it occurs by email, push notification and in-app notices.
If you have a subscription from the App Store or an Apple service, our transparent and comprehensive system for offering subscriptions provides safeguards to maintain a great user experience. For example, Apple regularly informs you of recurring charges. At any time, you can see what subscriptions you have, and manage or cancel a subscription directly in Settings on iPhone or iPad, or in the App Store on Mac. You can also request a refund or report an issue in the App Store, in your purchase history or at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Developers who offer subscriptions can only increase the price of a subscription without interrupting service under certain specific conditions. If the increase does not exceed approximately USD 5 and 50% of the subscription price, or USD 50 and 50% for annual subscriptions, and where permitted by law, developers may change the price without interrupting service. Developers may do this no more than once per year.
If you have a subscription to an app that’s making a price increase that meets these specific conditions, Apple will always notify you of an increase in advance. You’ll be notified in multiple ways, including email, push notification (if push notifications are enabled) and a message displayed within the app that you must acknowledge. Apple will also inform you how to view your subscription plan details and how to cancel the subscription if you prefer.
If the subscription price increase is above the thresholds, exceeds the annual limit or occurs within territories where the law requires it, you must opt in before the price increase is applied. If you don’t opt in to the new price, the subscription will not be renewed at the next billing period. You can subscribe again within the app or on the Manage Subscriptions page.
