iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Two ports) Housing

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Nylon probe (black stick) (optional)

Removal

The housing includes the following removable parts:

  • Audio board

  • Audio board flex cable

  • Microphone flex cable

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna

  • Wi-Fi antenna

The housing includes the following nonremovable parts:

  • Center Wi-Fi antenna

  • Display hangers

  • Microphone

  • Power button and power button flex cable

  • Speakers

  • Speaker back volumes

  1. To remove the microphone flex cable, first gently release the adhesive between the cable and the housing.

    • Note: The following image shows the iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Four ports), but the steps are the same for the iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Two ports).

  2. Use the flat end of the black stick to press and hold the “PUSH” button on the zero-insertion force (ZIF) microphone flex cable connector (1). Then slide the end of the cable out of the connector (2).

Reassembly

  1. To reinstall the microphone flex cable, slide the end of the cable into the connector.

  2. Then press the cable to adhere it to the enclosure.

    • Important: Route the microphone flex cable under the audio board flex cable.

    • Note: The following image shows the iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Four ports), but the steps are the same for the iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Two ports).

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
