If you’ve locked a managed macOS device using MDM

If you’ve used the MDM DeviceLock command to lock an institutionally managed macOS device, find out how to unlock the device.

This article is intended for enterprise and education MDM administrators.

On a Mac with an Intel processor, enter the PIN code that was specified in the DeviceLock command, then click the arrow button to restart the computer.

On a Mac with Apple silicon using macOS 11.5 or later, enter the PIN code that was specified in the DeviceLock command to restart the computer.

On a Mac with Apple silicon using macOS 11.4 or earlier, select an admin account and enter the password, connect to a network to activate the Mac, then restart the computer.
