Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Fully open the display and place the computer facedown on a clean surface with the display hanging down over the edge of the table.

Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the four 3IP screws (923-13444) from the two display connector cowlings. Remove the cowlings and save them for reassembly.

Lift the ends of the display backlight power flex cable, FaceTime HD camera flex cable, and embedded DisplayPort (eDP) flex cable off the connectors.

Lift the display cable clips off the internal frame of the top case. Gently fold them back over the edge of the top case to reveal the display flex cable bumpers underneath.

Lift the display flex cable bumpers out of the top case and save them for reassembly.
Important: The two bumpers are different. The bumper located over the FaceTime HD camera flex cable and eDP flex cable connectors has thicker padding on the bottom side. Each bumper must be reinstalled in the same location from which it was removed.

Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-13444) from the lid angle sensor connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

Use the black stick to lift the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable off the connector.

Use the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to remove the six 8IP screws (923-13441) from the display hinges.
Caution: Support the display by the lower edge while you're removing the screws. The support will help prevent the display hinge from contacting and damaging the logic board.

Lift the display until the hinges clear the edge of the top case. Ensure that the display flex cables (1) and lid angle sensor flex cable (2) don’t get caught on the logic board or top case.

Caution: Support the display by the lower edge while you're lifting the display off the top case. Don’t put pressure on the logic board with the display hinges.

Reassembly
Important
If you’re installing a replacement display, ensure that you remove all protective liners and tape from the replacement display.
Align the hinges of the display with the corners of the top case as you lower the display into position.

Caution
Ensure that the hinges slide under the edge of the top case.
Do not allow the display hinges to put pressure on the logic board.

Hold back the display flex connector cables (1) to prevent them from getting caught on the top case or logic board. Ensure that the lid angle sensor flex cable (2) doesn't get caught on the logic board as you position the display in the top case.

Use the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to partially reinstall the six 8IP screws (923-13441) into the display hinges in the order shown.

Close the display and stand the computer on its edge. Adjust the display until it’s flush with the top case.

Place the computer facedown with the battery closest to you.
Keep the 8IP bit in the adjustable torque driver. Set the torque value to 0.7 Nm.
Use the adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to fully reinstall the six 8IP screws (1–6) into the display hinges in the order shown.

Tuck only the folded section of each display flex cable (length of the flex cable closest to the display) into the gap between the display and internal frame.

Position each display flex cable bumper in the internal frame and over the bends in the display flex cables as shown.
Ensure that you install each bumper in the same location from which it was removed. The bumper placed over the display cable (1) has no padding. The bumper placed over the FaceTime HD camera flex cable and eDP flex cable (2) has padding.

Align each display flex cable clip around the edge of each display flex cable bumper. Then insert the display flex cables into the gap between the internal frame and logic board.

Press the display flex cable clips down over the bumpers and onto the internal frame.

Press the ends of the display backlight power flex cable (1), FaceTime HD camera flex cable (2), and eDP flex cable (3) to the connectors on the logic board.

Position the two display connector cowlings over the ends of the display backlight power flex cable, FaceTime HD camera flex cable, and eDP flex cable connectors. Then use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall two 3IP screws (923-13444) into each of the cowlings.

Press the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable to the connector.

Position the lid angle sensor connector cowling over the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable. Then use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the two 3IP screws (923-13444) into the lid angle sensor connector cowling.
