Scan a QR code in a web browser on your Windows computer
If you set up two-step verification or two-factor authentication on a website, you have to enter a verification code to sign in to your account. Some websites allow you to get a verification code by scanning a QR code. If you have set up iCloud Passwords in iCloud for Windows, you can scan the QR code on the website and receive the verification code on your PC, without the need for a camera or separate authenticator app.
Note: iCloud Passwords only works in Chrome on computers that have iCloud for Windows. It does not work in Chrome on a Mac.
Make sure the iCloud Passwords extension is enabled
You need to enable the iCloud Passwords extension to scan QR codes. If the extension is enabled, is shown in the browser’s toolbar. If is shown, see Enable the iCloud Passwords extension.
