Why your messages appear in green bubbles instead of blue bubbles

If you see a green message bubble instead of a blue one, that means the message was sent using MMS or SMS instead of iMessage. There are several possible reasons for this:

Turn on iMessages so your messages will appear in blue bubbles when possible

  1. In the Settings app, tap Messages.

  2. Turn on iMessages.

To get your messages to appear in blue bubbles, you’ll need to turn on iMessages in Settings > Messages.

3. If needed, tap Send & Receive to choose whether to start new conversations from your phone number or email address.
