Use your My Number Card in Apple Wallet

When you add your My Number Card to Wallet, you can safely and easily present your identification online, in apps and in person at selected locations in Japan.

To add a My Number Card to Wallet, you’ll need:

At the time your My Number Card data is added to Apple Wallet, it’s digitally signed by the issuing authority to make it unique to that device and to prevent tampering or forgery. Your identity in Apple Wallet is encrypted and protected by the same hardware technology that makes Apple Pay private and secure.

Add your My Number Card to Apple Wallet on your iPhone

  1. On your iPhone, open the latest version of the Mynaportal app to set up your digital identification card.

  2. Follow the instructions in the Mynaportal app and agree to the terms and conditions. To ensure you’re the owner, you’ll be asked to read your physical My Number Card using your iPhone, and enter a four-digit PIN and alphanumeric password. You’ll also need to take a selfie and perform a liveness check.

  3. Once you’ve completed the steps in the Mynaportal app, tap Add to Apple Wallet and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

During the setup process, the My Number Card issuer will validate the authenticity of your card. When your My Number Card is added to your iPhone, it is uniquely linked to your device so that it can’t be copied and used by someone else. You can only add one My Number Card to your device.

Present your My Number Card at convenience shops

  1. On an iPhone using Face ID, double-click the side button. On an iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the Home button. If prompted, authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

  2. Tap your My Number Card.

  3. Hold the top of your iPhone near the reader.

When you present your My Number Card successfully, a tick and Done will appear on your device.

Present your My Number Card in person elsewhere

  1. On an iPhone using Face ID, double-click the side button. On an iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the Home button. If prompted, authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

  2. Tap your My Number Card.

  3. Hold the top of your iPhone near the reader.

  4. On your device, review the information that will be shared.

  5. To provide your consent:

    • On an iPhone with Face ID: double-click the side button, then authenticate.

    • On an iPhone with Touch ID: hold your finger on the Home button.

When you present your My Number Card successfully, a tick and Done will appear on your device.

Present your My Number Card online or in apps

  1. In an app, app-clip or online, tap the Verify with Apple Wallet button.

  2. Review the information that will be shared and follow the onscreen instructions.

  3. To provide your consent:

    • On an iPhone with Face ID: double-click the side button, then authenticate.

    • On an iPhone with Touch ID: hold your finger on the Home button.
