Use iCloud on a virtual machine

On a virtual machine with macOS Sequoia or later, you can use many of your favourite iCloud features, but some features aren’t available.

iCloud features that you can use on a virtual machine

To sign in to your Apple Account on a virtual machine, your host machine must be updated to macOS Sequoia or later. When you sign in to your Apple Account on a virtual machine, you can use services such as Messages, FaceTime and most iCloud features, just as you would on an Apple device.

iCloud features not available on a virtual machine

  • iCloud Backup

  • Find My

  • iCloud Mail

  • Apple Media Services

  • Apple Wallet

If you need to make changes to your Apple Account, including updating payment information or attempting account recovery, or need to make a new Apple Account, you’ll need to use an iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro, Mac or iCloud.com.
