Use plug-ins with Logic Pro for iPad

You can use plug-ins included with Logic Pro for iPad, as well as third-party Audio Units V3 Extensions.

Use included plug-ins

Logic Pro for iPad includes a large collection of professional-quality effect and instrument plug-ins, which are automatically installed when you first download the app. Many of these plug-ins are common to both Logic Pro for iPad and Logic Pro for Mac. When you use them in a project, the settings for these effects will be the same whether you open the project on iPad or Mac. And you can edit the parameters of these plug-ins in the project on both platforms.

Use third-party effects

Logic Pro for iPad supports third-party instruments and effects in the Audio Units V3 Extensions format, which you can download and install from the iPad App Store.

Depending on the manufacturer, a plug-in that’s compatible with Logic Pro on Mac might have a version in the AU V3 Extensions format that's compatible with Logic Pro for iPad. Those plug-ins need to be installed separately. For iPad, those installers can be obtained from the iPad App Store. On Mac, those installers can be obtained from the Mac App Store or directly from the manufacturer. That way, when you work on a project on both Mac and iPad, you can use the plug-in on both platforms.

Some manufacturers also offer a universal purchase, which lets you purchase the plug-in once but provides installers compatible for both platforms.

If you open a Logic Pro for Mac project on your iPad that uses a plug-in that doesn't have a compatible version for iPad, or you haven't installed the AU V3 Extensions version on your iPad, you’ll see an alert notifying you. Incompatible plug-ins are disabled, but you can still open and edit the project.
