View smart home accessory activity in the Home app
View up to 30 days of activity for smart home accessories like door locks, alarm systems, and smoke detectors using Activity History in the Home app.
About Activity History
Activity History is turned on automatically when an Apple TV or HomePod in a home on the latest version of Apple Home is updated to tvOS 17.
If Activity History is turned on, and you have smart home accessories like door locks and alarm systems in your home, activities like locking and unlocking your front door are available for you to view in the Home app.1
Activity History doesn't include recorded camera activity. Learn how to set up HomeKit Secure Video to record and view video.
Everyone in the home, including shared home users, can view Activity History.2
Apple cannot read the contents of Activity History because it's end-to-end encrypted. Activity is permanently deleted after 30 days. Learn how Apple uses end-to-end encryption to help protect your data.
What you need
You need an Apple TV or HomePod with tvOS 17 or later in a home on the latest version of Apple Home.
Your home must include smart home accessories like door locks, garage doors, alarm systems, contact sensors, smoke detectors, doors, and windows. Learn how to add smart home accessories in the Home app.
View Activity History
Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Select the Security category.
Select Activity History.
Turn Activity History on and off
Only the home owner or a shared home user with permission to add and edit accessories can turn Activity History on and off. When you turn off Activity History, all previous activity for the home is permanently deleted.

Activity History cannot guarantee that events are captured in all circumstances. Network or power outages may result in lost events. When the connected home hub is not reachable due to power outage, events may not be logged successfully.
Remote access to the home is required to view Activity History while you are outside the home.
