Progress toward Apple 2030
Apple 2030 is our goal to be carbon neutral across our value chain. We design our products to be less carbon intensive by prioritizing the use of recycled and renewable content and low‑carbon materials while focusing on the energy efficiency of our software and hardware.
Materials
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are made with 40% recycled content,22 including:
85% recycled aluminum in the enclosure
100% recycled cobalt in the battery
100% recycled gold plating and tin solder in all Apple‑designed printed circuit boards
95% recycled lithium in the battery
100% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets
80% recycled steel in multiple components including the battery enclosure and vapor chamber chassis
100% recycled tungsten in the Taptic Engine
Packaging
100% fiber-based packaging23
Energy
50% of manufacturing electricity for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is sourced from renewable electricity24
Exceeds U.S. Department of Energy requirements for battery charger systems25
Waste
No established final assembly sites generate waste sent to landfill as part of Apple’s Zero Waste Program26
Smarter chemistry27
All of the materials used in Apple products, accessories, and packaging are covered by the requirements of our Regulated Substances Specification, which was one of the first in industry to restrict the use of key substances of concern. See the latest Environmental Progress Report to understand Apple’s recent efforts in phasing out these chemistries.
*To identify your iPhone model number, see support.apple.com/en-hk/108044. For details on 5G and LTE support, contact your carrier and see apple.com/hk/en/iphone/cellular. Cellular technology support is based on iPhone model number and configuration for GSM networks.
Available space is less and varies due to many factors. A standard configuration uses approximately 12GB to 24GB of space, including iOS 27 with its latest features and Apple apps that can be deleted. Apple Intelligence on‑device models use approximately 7GB of space and can be deleted if Apple Intelligence is turned off. Turning on Apple Intelligence will download the models again. Apple apps that can be deleted use about 4.5GB of space, and you can download them back from the App Store. Storage capacity subject to change based on software version, settings, and iPhone model.
Size and weight vary by configuration and manufacturing process.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are splash, water, and dust resistant and were tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP68 under IEC standard 60529 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes). Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions. Resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage not covered under warranty.
Apple Intelligence is available with Siri and device language set to Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, or Vietnamese. Some features may not be available in all regions or languages. Some devices may not be available in all regions. Siri AI is available in beta in iOS 27 and requires an Apple Intelligence–enabled device set to a supported language. Available in English to start. Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits, including but not limited to Siri AI, Intelligent Photo Editing Tools, Image Playground, and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts. Daily limits may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors. Expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future. Use of these features is subject to the Apple Intelligence Terms and Conditions. Learn more at apple.com/hk/en/apple-intelligence.

Testing conducted by Apple in August 2026 using preproduction iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo units and software, subscribed to LTE and 5G carrier networks, using a representative usage profile. Profile is based on the median usage values across iPhone users and reflects a combination of passive and active use of a variety of applications, including but not limited to messaging, photos, music, social media, video streaming, games, web browsing and navigation. iPhone Duo typical use based on equal usage between inner and outer displays. Battery life varies by use, configuration, cellular network, signal strength and other factors; actual results may vary based on usage.
Testing conducted by Apple in July 2026 using preproduction iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units and software, subscribed to LTE and 5G carrier networks. Video playback consisted of a repeated 2-hour 23-minute HDR movie purchased from the iTunes Store. Video playback (streamed) consisted of a repeated 3-hour 1-minute HDR movie purchased from the iTunes Store. All settings were default except: Bluetooth was paired with headphones; Wi-Fi was associated with a network; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks, Auto-Brightness, and True Tone were turned off.
Testing conducted by Apple in July 2026 using preproduction iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units and software, and either USB‑C Charge Cable or Apple MagSafe Chargers (1‑meter Model A3502 and 2‑meter Model A3503), both with Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max (Model A3351). Wired fast charge supported with 60W-capable USB‑C cable and USB PD 3.1 (or better) power adapters with Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS). Fast‑charge testing conducted with drained iPhone units. Times measured from the appearance of the Apple logo as the unit started up. Charge time varies with adapter, settings, usage, and environmental factors; actual results will vary.
iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, and iPhone Air can detect a severe car crash and call for help. Requires a cellular connection or Wi‑Fi calling.

Product recycled or renewable content is the mass of certified recycled material relative to the overall mass of the device, not including packaging or in-box accessories. Recycled and renewable plastic content calculation includes mass balance allocation.
Breakdown of U.S. retail packaging by weight. Adhesives, inks, and coatings are excluded from our calculations of plastic content and packaging weight. Fiber sourcing requirements are defined in Apple’s Responsible Fiber Specification. We consider wood fibers to include bamboo.
We estimate the percentage of electricity-related emissions in our manufacturing that is sourced from low-carbon electricity by attributing to our carbon model low-carbon energy procured by our suppliers in the prior fiscal year, based on the supplier manufacturing allocations at time of product launch. Included in this number is only low-carbon electricity that Apple or its suppliers have procured as part of Apple’s Supplier Clean Energy Program.
Efficiency performance is based on the U.S. Department of Energy Federal Energy Conservation Standards for Battery Chargers.
All established final assembly supplier sites — those that have been Apple suppliers for more than one year — for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are third-party verified as Zero Waste by UL LLC (UL 2799 Standard). UL requires at least 90% diversion through methods other than waste to energy to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill (Silver 90–94%, Gold 95–99%, and Platinum 100%) designations.
Apple’s Regulated Substances Specification describes Apple’s restrictions on the use of certain chemical substances in materials in Apple products, accessories, manufacturing processes, and packaging used for shipping products to Apple’s end‑customers. Restrictions are derived from international laws or directives, regulatory agencies, eco‑label requirements, environmental standards, and Apple policies. Every Apple product is free of PVC and phthalates except for AC power cords in India, Thailand (for two‑prong AC power cords), and South Korea, where we continue to seek government approval for our PVC and phthalates replacement. Apple products comply with the European Union Directive 2011/65/EU and its amendments, including exemptions for the use of lead such as high-temperature solder. Apple is working to phase out the use of these exempted substances for new products where technically possible.
Features are subject to change. Some features, applications, and services may not be available in all regions or all languages and may require specific hardware and software. For more information, see Feature Availability.
