Wireless network guidelines for use with Remote Desktop
If you use Remote Desktop to control and observe client computers connected using a wireless network, communication errors may appear in the Computer Status window.
To optimize performance for computers in a wireless network, do the following:
- Update all Remote Desktop client computers to the latest versions of Remote Desktop and macOS.
- Limit the number of clients that connect to a single wireless access point. Only one device at a time can communicate on a given wireless channel. All devices connected to the same wireless access point may also need to connect with each other to communicate other network information.
- Adjust the multicast speed higher on your wireless access points. Configure each base station with a station density of High to limit the range of the base station so that client computers must be within 50 meters of it.
- Resize the control/observe window to a smaller size.
