Restrictions overview
Restrictions can be enabled, or in some cases disabled, to prevent users from accessing a specific app, service, or function of the device. Restrictions are sent to devices in a restrictions payload, which is attached to a configuration profile. For example, a restriction can be enabled that prevents an iOS or iPadOS device from using the camera to take pictures or videos. Another restriction can be added to prevent FaceTime video and audio calls on the iOS, iPadOS, or macOS device.
Restrictions can be applied to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS devices. To learn which MDM restrictions are supported for your devices, consult your MDM solution’s documentation.
To set restrictions in Apple Configurator 2 and Profile Manager, see MDM overview.
Note: All the restriction tables are sorted by the newest restrictions at the top of each table. Your MDM solution may organize them differently.
