Transfer info from a PC to Mac

If you didn’t transfer your information to your Mac when you first set it up, you can use Migration Assistant to transfer your information at any time. For example, transfer your user account—including all your pictures, music, and files.

Transfer your info from a PC

You can transfer over a wired or wireless network as long as your computers are connected to the same network.

  1. Close all other apps on your PC, open Windows Migration Assistant, then follow the onscreen instructions.

If you don’t have Windows Migration Assistant on your PC, download it from the Apple website.

    • Download Windows Migration Assistant (Mojave)

    • Download Windows Migration Assistant (Sierra)

    • Download Windows Migration Assistant (Lion-El Capitan)

  2. Select what to transfer, then click Continue.

For information about what you can transfer or about transferring information from a Mac or a disk, see Transfer info to Mac from another computer or device.

Note: During a Windows migration, you can use a wireless connection coming from a device using Soft AP software (a software enabled access point) to access the internet. Using a Soft AP access point during migration can help increase migration speeds over the network. When the Customize pane appears during the migration, you can select and join an access point created by another device.
