Find My Friends troubleshooting
If Find My Friends can’t determine your location
Make sure your computer is connected to Wi-Fi. When your computer isn’t connected to Wi-Fi, you won’t see your current location (blue dot) on the map or the distance between you and your friends in the Friends list.
Make sure you allow Find My Friends to access your location. Depending on your browser settings, you are asked to allow access to your location.
To change your settings for Safari on a Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, click Websites, then select Location on the left. On the right, click the pop-up menu next to icloud.com, then choose a setting. If you don’t see icloud.com as an option, be sure that you have it open in Safari.
If Find My Friends still can’t determine your location, try refreshing the browser window.
If you can’t see a friend’s location
If Location Not Available is below a friend’s name, ask the friend to make sure that the device sharing their location:
Is online (turned on and connected to a data network, such as 3G, 4G, LTE, or Wi-Fi)
Is signed in with their Apple ID
Has Find My (or Find My Friends) turned on in Settings > Privacy > Location Services
Is still sharing its location
If you asked to follow a friend but the friend doesn’t appear in your Friends list, make sure you sent the invitation to the correct email address. Also, make sure the friend accepted the invitation.
