If you see error codes 0xc000000f or 0xc0000225 when installing Windows 10

Learn what to do if you see the error codes 0xc000000f or 0xc0000225 when installing Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp.

These error codes might appear if there's an issue with the Windows ISO image that you're using to install Windows on your Mac.

To fix the issue, first follow these steps to remove the Boot Camp partitions:

  1. Restart your Mac in macOS.
  2. Open Disk Utility.
  3. In the Disk Utility menu bar, click Partition. If you see a dialog asking whether you want to add a volume or partition, click Partition.
  4. In the graph that appears, select OSXRESERVED, then click the remove (minus) button.
  5. In the same graph, select BOOTCAMP, then click the remove (minus) button.
OSXRESERVED and BOOTCAMP are empty partitions that Boot Camp Assistant created during the attempted installation.
  6. Click Apply, then click Partition to confirm.

Next, download a new ISO image from Microsoft and then try your Windows 10 installation again.
