If video frames in your Final Cut Pro project are in the wrong order

Learn what to do when video frames play out of order during playback in Final Cut Pro or in the exported version of a project.

Final Cut Pro 10.6.4 fixes an issue where video frames could be out of order in your Final Cut Pro project. If you've experienced this issue, update to Final Cut Pro 10.6.4, delete the render files in the library containing the affected project, then render the project.

Update Final Cut Pro

First, update to Final Cut Pro 10.6.4.

Delete render files

After updating Final Cut Pro, delete the render files in the library containing the project that has video frames out of order:

  1. In the Libraries sidebar in Final Cut Pro, select the library.

  2. Choose File > Delete Generated Library Files.

  3. Select Delete Render Files.

  4. Select Delete Render Files, select All, then click OK.

Render the project

After deleting the render files, render projects as necessary:

  1. Select the project in the Final Cut Pro browser.

  2. Choose Modify > Render All (or press Control-Shift-R). You can view the progress of rendering in the Background Tasks window.
