standard dynamic range (SDR)

The limited range of luminance (levels of brightness) and color values supported by older, traditional video displays. Developed in the mid-1950s for cathode-ray tube TVs, SDR video has a maximum brightness of 100 nits (candelas per square meter) and a dynamic range of 6 to 10 stops (measures of exposure). Some newer imaging devices can display high-dynamic-range (HDR) images, representing a much wider range of brightness levels.

Note: All objects created in the Motion app—text, shapes, generators, replicators, and so on—are SDR.
