Change your journal settings on Mac
You can customize the settings for the Journal app ; for example, set a schedule for journaling, automatically add a location to new entries, and more.
Add a title, date, or current location to new journal entries
Go to the Journal app
on your Mac.
Choose Journal > Settings > General, then do any of the following:
Add a title to new entries: Click
, then choose Always, Only for Moments, or Never.
Use the date from the moment as the entry date: Turn on Always Use Moment Date.
Add current location to new entries: Turn on Add Current Location.
Save photos and videos taken in Journal to the Photos app
Go to the Journal app
on your Mac.
Choose Journal > Settings, then click General.
Turn on Save to Photos.
Allow sharing from other apps
You can start journal entries by sharing attachments from other apps—like a song from the Music app or an article from the News app. To see the Journal app as a sharing option, add it to Login Items & Extensions.
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click General
, then click Login Items & Extensions.
Choose By App, then click
next to Journal.
Turn on Sharing.
Turn Journal notifications on or off
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Notifications
, then click Journal.
