Hide your Wi-Fi network’s name
You can hide the name of your wireless network from computers scanning for Wi-Fi networks.
Note: Hiding the name of your wireless network does not make it more secure. The network’s name is concealed from Wi-Fi scanners, but the presence of the network can be detected.
To join a hidden wireless network, users must enter the exact network name and the password (if there is one). For instructions, see Join a hidden Wi-Fi network.
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
In the graphical overview, select the base station you want to configure, then click Edit. You may need to enter a password for the base station.
Click Wireless, then click the Wireless Options button near the bottom of the pane.
In the dialog that appears, select “Create hidden network.”
Click Save to close the dialog, then click Update to save the changes.
