Use Adaptive Power on an Apple Watch that you set up for a family member

With watchOS 26, an Apple Watch that you set up with Apple Watch For Your Kids can use Adaptive Power to extend battery life.

About Adaptive Power

Apple Watch For Your Kids lets you set up an Apple Watch for a family member who doesn't have their own iPhone. Adaptive Power is a feature in watchOS 26 and later that adjusts the performance of your child's Apple Watch, making it more power-efficient so it can last longer between charges.

On by default in watchOS 26

After you update your family member's Apple Watch to watchOS 26, you'll see an alert on their watch letting you know that Adaptive Power is on. Adaptive Power is also on by default when you set up a new Apple Watch using Apple Watch For Your Kids.

What you might notice on your child's watch

Adaptive Power adjusts the performance of your family member's Apple Watch. As a result, you might notice that Siri can take longer to process their requests, and some animations and scrolling might appear less smooth on their watch.

How to turn off Adaptive Power

  1. Open Settings on your child's Apple Watch.

  2. Tap Battery.

  3. Scroll down to Adaptive Power, then tap it to turn off the feature.
