Ways to remember passwords on Mac
If you have trouble keeping track of passwords, try these suggestions.
Create memorable login and Apple ID passwords
The best way to keep your Mac and the information associated with your Apple ID secure is to create secure, memorable passwords. When you create passwords, it’s recommended that you write them down and keep them in a secure location. You can also add a hint to help remind you of your login password. See Add a password hint.

Use iCloud Keychain
If you use iCloud, you can use iCloud Keychain to store passwords for web accounts, credit cards and Wi-Fi networks across your Mac, iPhone and iPad. See Set up iCloud Keychain to autofill information.
Use Keychain Access
You can use keychains in macOS to remember passwords for apps, servers and websites. If an item’s password is stored in a keychain, Keychain Access can enter the password when you open the item. See Manage passwords using keychains.
Recover a forgotten password
If you forget your login password and you’re not the administrator, ask the administrator to reset your login password.
Resetting your password creates a new login keychain. Passwords and other information saved in your previous keychain are not accessible and must be re-entered.
