Choose the correct email service provider when you add an account to Mail

Your account provider’s name may not match the end of your email address. Find out which provider to choose when you set up your account in Mail.

Which email service provider includes your email address?

When you add an email account to Mail on iOS, iPadOS or macOS, you’ll have the option to choose from a list of external email service providers.

  • iCloud includes email accounts that end with icloud.com, me.com or mac.com.

  • Microsoft Exchange includes email accounts that end with onmicrosoft.com. This may also be the email service provider to select if you have an Exchange-based corporate email account.

  • Google includes email accounts that end with gmail.com.

  • Yahoo! includes email accounts that end with yahoo.com.

  • Aol. includes email accounts that end with aol.com, aim.com and verizon.net.

  • Outlook.com is only available to select when you add an account in iOS, and it includes email accounts that end with outlook.com, hotmail.com or live.com.

You can add your Gmail, Outlook or other email accounts to your iPhone in Settings > Mail > Accounts.

When you add an email account to Mail on your Mac, choose Microsoft Exchange for email accounts that end with onmicrosoft.com and for accounts that end with outlook.com, hotmail.com or live.com. Also choose this option in macOS if you have an Exchange-based corporate email account.

To add any other email address, select Other and be ready to enter your email settings manually if needed.
