Turn Private Browsing on or off on your iPhone or iPod touch

When you use Private Browsing, the details of your browsing won't be saved, and the websites you visit won't be shared with your other devices. Safari won't remember the pages you visit, your search history or your AutoFill information.

How to turn on Private Browsing

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch.
  2. Tap the Tabs button .
  3. Tap [number] Tabs   to display the Tab Groups list.
  4. Tap Private , then tap Done.

While Private Browsing is turned on, the Safari address bar will appear black or dark, instead of white or grey.

How to turn off Private Browsing

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch.
  2. Tap the Tabs button .
  3. Tap Private   to display the Tab Groups list.
  4. Tap [number] Tabs , then tap Done.
