If you can't add cards to Apple Wallet because of security reasons

Get help if you can't add payment cards to Apple Wallet due to security reasons.

If you can't add payment cards

When you go to the Wallet app and tap the Add Card button, you're usually able to add a variety of cards to use with Apple Pay. However, for security reasons, you might not be able to add payment cards to Apple Wallet on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, including new cards in Cards Found For You. This can happen if Apple Pay activity related to your Apple Account or device appears unusual.

While you might not be able to add new payment cards, you can still add eligible new transit cards, identity cards, access cards, and keys to the Wallet app*. All of the cards you've already added to Wallet, including payment cards, will continue to work.

* Adding certain cards to Wallet is dependent on region availability.

Request a review

If you want to try to restore your ability to add payment cards, you can request a review. A review can only be requested on the affected device, not by calling Apple.

  1. To request a review, your device must have iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 or later. For Apple Watch, you must request a review from the Watch app on your paired iPhone. Your Apple Watch must have watchOS 27 or later.

  2. When your attempt to add a card is unsuccessful, you'll see 'Cannot Add Card' on the screen. To appeal this, tap 'Request a Review'.

  3. Read the guidance on the screen. If you want to proceed, tap 'Send to Apple'.

If you're on an earlier OS, you'll be prompted to update your device. After you've updated to the latest OS, you'll be able to request a review.

What to expect

If you try to add a payment card on the same device before Apple completes the review, you will see your review is in progress.

A message in the Wallet app indicating that a request has been sent and is being reviewed by Apple.

This review process is managed by Apple, not your card issuer. Apple might take a few days to review your request. When Apple completes the review, the ability to add payment cards to Apple Wallet will be reinstated or permanently disabled.
