Undo a migration of Apple Account purchases between accounts
If you’ve migrated purchases from a secondary Apple Account to a primary Apple Account and want to be able to use the secondary Apple Account for Media & Purchases again, undo the migration.
This feature isn’t available to users in India.
About migrating purchases
You can choose to migrate apps, music and other content you’ve purchased from Apple on a secondary Apple Account to a primary Apple Account. After doing this, if you need access to other data associated with the secondary account, you can undo migration.
At the time of the initial migration, the Apple Account that was signed in for use with iCloud and most features on your iPhone or iPad will be referred to as the primary Apple Account.
At the time of the initial migration, the Apple Account that was signed in just for use with Media & Purchases will be referred to as the secondary Apple Account. Before undoing migration, this is the Apple Account that can’t be used.
What to do before you undo migration
Review your subscriptions. All subscriptions, except iCloud+, will be cancelled and will expire at their next renewal date after migration has been undone. You may lose access to promotional trials or special pricing.
Only purchases made before the migration will return to the secondary Apple Account. Purchases made since the migration will continue to be associated with the primary Apple Account. You can check your recent purchases using purchase history.
You can’t have any issues with the payment method(s) on file. Find out what to do if you have a billing problem.
Be certain you want to undo migration. You won’t be able to migrate purchases again for one year.
Undo a migration of purchases
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
Tap your name, then tap Media & Purchases.
Tap View Account. You may be asked to sign in.
Scroll down and look for Secondary Account. Below this Apple Account is text explaining what primary account the purchases are currently available with. Tap Undo Migration.
Review the information about both accounts, then follow the tasks to undo the migration of purchases.
When complete, you’ll see “Undo Migration Complete”. The email addresses associated with both accounts will also receive a confirmation email.
Make sure you check your Media & Purchases settings, sign out of the primary Apple Account and then sign in with the secondary Apple Account.
What to do after you undo migration
All payment methods will be removed from both accounts. Find out how to add a payment method.
Resubscribe to any subscriptions with the Apple Account you want to be billed through in the future.
Sign in to Media & Purchases on each of your Apple devices and apps with the Apple Account you want to use for making purchases.
