How to unsend messages on your iPhone

In Messages on iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, macOS Ventura or later, you can unsend a message for up to 2 minutes after sending it.

Unsend messages on your iPhone or iPad with iOS 16 or later

  1. In Messages, tap a conversation.

  2. Touch and hold the message you want to unsend.

  3. Tap Undo Send.

Tap and hold a message in iOS 16 or later to see the Undo Send option.

The message will disappear and a notification that says "You unsent a message" will appear. You can unsend an iMessage for up to 2 minutes after sending it.

After you’ve unsent a message, a notice will appear at the bottom of your conversation that says “You unsent a message”.

Unsend a message on Mac

To unsend messages, everyone must be using iMessage with iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, macOS Ventura or later. If you unsend a message to someone on an older version of iOS, iPadOS or macOS, your contact may still see the message.
