Add music to Apple Watch
If you add music to your Apple Watch, you can listen to music wherever you go, even when you don’t have your iPhone with you.
Choose which playlists are automatically added to Apple Watch
Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Tap My Watch, then tap Music.
If you’re an Apple Music subscriber, personalized mixes are automatically added to your Apple Watch when it’s connected to power. Turn off any playlists you don’t want to add.
Apple Music subscribers and non-subscribers can also choose to have Heavy Rotation added to their Apple Watch. Heavy Rotation is a collection of albums and playlists selected based on your iPhone listening habits.
Add albums and playlists to Apple Watch
Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Tap My Watch, then tap Music.
Under Playlists & Albums, tap Add Music.
Select albums and playlists to add them to your Apple Watch.
Use the Music app on your iPhone to create playlists specifically for music you want to listen to on your Apple Watch—music that motivates you during a workout, for example.
Add a workout playlist to Apple Watch (Apple Watch Series 1 and later)
Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Tap My Watch, then tap Workout.
Tap Workout Playlist, then choose a playlist.
This playlist plays automatically when you start a workout unless you’re currently listening to other music or audio.

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
Go to General > About, then look under Songs.
Remove music from Apple Watch
Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Tap My Watch, then tap Music.
Turn off any automatically added playlists you don’t want on your Apple Watch.
To remove playlists and albums you’ve added to your Apple Watch, tap Edit, then tap next to the unwanted items.
Music you remove from your Apple Watch remains on your iPhone.
