If you're missing Health data after restoring from an iCloud backup you made with iOS 9

Learn what to do if Health data is missing after you restore a new or current device using iOS 9 or later from an iCloud backup.

This issue was resolved in iOS 11. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the latest iOS. If you can't update your device to iOS 11 or later, follow these steps.

Create a new iCloud backup from your original device

Before restoring your Health data to a new or current iOS device, make sure your information is up to date and then make a new iCloud backup of your previous device while it's locked. This ensures that all of your Health data correctly transfers to your new iOS device when you restore from an iCloud backup.

To create a new iCloud backup, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi.

  2. Go to Settings > iCloud > Backup. Make sure iCloud Backup is turned on.

  3. Tap Back Up Now and then immediately lock your device by pressing the Sleep/Wake button. Make sure your device stays locked until the backup is complete.

iCloud will also automatically back up your device when your device is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi.

If you're unable to create a new iCloud backup from your original device, and you have a recent encrypted backup in iTunes, you can use iTunes to restore Health data back to your device.
