If Spatial Audio is unavailable while using your keyboard, mouse, or trackpad on Mac
Some Bluetooth input devices can’t be used on your Mac at the same time as Spatial Audio for FaceTime.
When using a Bluetooth headphone that supports Spatial Audio, Spatial Audio might be unavailable for a FaceTime call, and the Spatial Audio menu item might include a message that Spatial Audio is unavailable while using your keyboard, mouse, trackpad, or other Bluetooth input device. Spatial Audio for FaceTime requires macOS Sequoia or later.
If using a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad
An Apple Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad that has a built-in, rechargeable battery can be used at the same time as Spatial Audio for FaceTime—if the device has firmware version 2.0.6 or later.
Check the firmware version of your device
Press and hold the Option key on your keyboard while choosing Apple menu > System Information. Or use Spotlight to find and open System Information.
Click Bluetooth in the sidebar of the System Information window, then find the name of your connected Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad on the right. The firmware version appears below the name. If your device doesn’t have firmware version 2.0.6 or later, update its firmware.
Update the firmware of your device
Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click General in the sidebar.
Click Software Update on the right.
Click the
next to Automatic Updates, then make sure that “Install Security Responses and system files” is turned on. Click Done.Plug your Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad into your Mac so that it’s charging, and leave your computer idle but not asleep. The firmware will then update automatically in the background. This might not happen immediately, so it might be convenient to leave the device plugged in overnight.
If using any other Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, or trackpad
If Spatial Audio is unavailable for FaceTime while using any other Apple or third-party Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, or trackpad, disconnect that input device in Bluetooth settings before attempting to use Spatial Audio for FaceTime.
If your Mac has a built-in keyboard and trackpad, you can use those instead. Or use a wired input device, which connects to your Mac via USB instead of Bluetooth.
If your third-party input device can connect using a 2.4 GHz USB dongle plugged into your Mac, you can use that instead of Bluetooth.
