If your iPhone or iPad gets stuck on the Apple logo when you transfer from your previous device
When you choose “From Another [Device]” during setup to transfer apps and data from your previous iPhone to a new iPhone with iOS 17 or from your previous iPad to a new iPad with iPadOS 17, you might get stuck on the Apple logo. Learn how to reset and complete the transfer.
Step 1: Restore your new iPhone or iPad with a computer
Connect your new iPhone or iPad to a computer with a cable.
Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Then, press and hold the side button.
Continue to hold while the Apple logo appears and don't let go until an image of a computer and cable appears.
On your computer, locate your new iPhone or iPad in the Finder or in iTunes.
Choose Restore when you see the option to Restore or Update.
If your device restarts while your computer downloads the software, wait for the download to complete then put your iPhone or your iPad into recovery mode again.
Step 2: Update the software on your new iPhone or iPad
From the Hello screen, follow the onscreen instructions to start the setup process.
Install any software update that is available during the setup process.
Step 3: Transfer your apps and data to your new iPhone or iPad
After you install the latest software update during the setup process, you can choose any method to transfer your apps and data to your new device and finish your setup:
From the Hello screen, follow the onscreen instructions to start the setup process.
Choose the method you prefer to transfer your apps and data. For example, transfer data from another device or transfer data from an iCloud Backup.
Follow the rest of the onscreen instructions to finish the iPhone or iPad setup process.
