View smart home accessory activity in the Home app
View up to 30 days of activity for smart home accessories like door locks, alarm systems, and Adaptive Temperature-supported thermostats using Activity History in the Home app.
About Activity History
If you have an Apple TV or HomePod using tvOS 17 or later, and you're using the latest version of Apple Home, Activity History is turned on automatically.
If Activity History is turned on, and you have smart home accessories like door locks and alarm systems in your home, activities like locking and unlocking your front door are available to view in the Home app.
If Activity History is turned on, and Adaptive Temperature is enabled, heating and cooling activities associated with Adaptive Temperature-supported thermostats are available to view in the Home app.
Activity History doesn't include recorded camera activity. Learn how to set up HomeKit Secure Video to record and view video.
Activity History cannot guarantee that events are captured in all circumstances. Network or power outages may result in lost events. When the connected home hub is not reachable due to power outage, events may not be logged successfully.
Who can view Activity History
Home Owners and Residents can view Activity History. Home Guests can't view Activity History. Learn how to invite others to control accessories in your home.
Apple cannot read the contents of Activity History because it's end-to-end encrypted. Activity is permanently deleted after 30 days. Learn how Apple uses end-to-end encryption to help protect your data.
Remote access to the home is required to view Activity History while you are outside the home.
What you need
You need an Apple TV or HomePod with tvOS 17 or later in a home on the latest version of Apple Home.
Your home must include smart home accessories like Adaptive Temperature-supported thermostats, door locks, garage doors, alarm systems, contact sensors, smoke detectors, doors, and windows. Learn how to add smart home accessories in the Home app.
View Activity History
Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Select the Climate or Security category.
Select Activity.
Some climate activity is based on home Owner and Resident device location. Learn how to turn Location Services on and off.
Turn Activity History on and off
Only the home Owner or a Resident with permission to add and edit accessories can turn Activity History on and off. When you turn off Activity History, all previous activity for the home is permanently deleted.
Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Select the More button
, select Home Settings
, then select Activity.Choose One Month to turn Activity History on, or choose Off.
