Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad

When the battery level gets low, Low Power Mode reduces background activity to extend battery life.

Turn Low Power Mode on or off

On iPhone 15 and later models:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Battery.

  3. Tap Power Mode.

  4. Tap to turn Low Power Mode on or off.

On iPhone 14 and earlier models:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Battery.

  3. Tap to turn Low Power Mode on or off.

More ways to turn Low Power Mode on or off:

  • From Control Center: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen and tap the battery icon.

  • Ask Siri: Say "Siri, turn on Low Power Mode" or "Hey Siri, turn off Low Power Mode."

  • If your device supports Adaptive Power and it's turned on, Low Power Mode turns on when your battery goes below 20%.

Low Power Mode extends the battery life of iPhones and iPads when the battery level gets low. Low Power Mode reduces power usage by limiting certain features:

  • Keeps 5G on for streaming and large downloads (iPhone 12 and 13 only)

  • Sets Auto-Lock to 30 seconds

  • Reduces display brightness

  • Turns off some visual effects

  • Pauses iCloud Photos temporarily

  • Turns off automatic downloads

  • Turns off email fetch

  • Turns off Background App Refresh

When Low Power Mode is active, the battery icon in the status bar turns yellow. When you charge the device to 80% or higher, Low Power Mode turns off.
