Change or remove your Apple ID payment information

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can change the payment information for your Apple ID in Settings. On your Mac or PC, use iTunes.

Your Apple ID is the personal account that you use to access Apple services like the App Store, iTunes Store, iCloud, iMessage, the Apple Online Store, FaceTime, and more. When you change your payment method or billing address, your information also updates everywhere that you use your Apple ID.

If you change your payment method, make sure that your account information matches the credit card information on file with your financial institution. Learn about the different payment methods that you can use.

When you set up Family Sharing and turn on purchase sharing, one adult in the family—the family organizer—controls the shared payment method for everyone in the family group. Learn more about family purchases and payments.

Store availability and features might vary by country or region.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you want to change your payment information and you're using iOS 10.3 or later:

  1. Tap Settings > [your name] > Payment & Shipping. You might need to enter your Apple ID password.
  2. Tap your current payment method. If you're using Family Sharing, and purchase sharing is turned on, only your family organizer can update your payment information.
  3. Enter your new payment details. If you want to remove your payment method, select None. Get help if you don't see None or can't select it.

After entering your name and card number, tap Next.
  4. Enter your billing information and address, then tap Save.

If you change your payment method to a credit card, the iTunes Store places a temporary authorization hold on your credit card to verify your updated account information. You might also see an option to add the new card to Apple Pay.

Automatically updated payment information

If you see iTunes charges on a new credit card, your card issuer might have automatically updated your information for you. Card issuers update payment information to prevent services with recurring payments, like Apple Music subscriptions, from pausing when a new credit card is issued. Sometimes, card issuers might allow recurring charges to continue to go through on an expired credit card.

If you have any concerns about this process, contact your card issuer or financial institution.
