On your Mac, use Siri settings to turn on and customize options for Siri.

To open these settings, go to the System Settings app , then click Siri in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

Note: The options you see depend on which version of Siri you’re using.

Siri settings

Option				Description
Turn on Siri				Use to turn on Siri to do everyday tasks, get quick answers, and more. Note: This option only appears if Siri is turned off. If you turn off Siri and then turn it on again later, you may need to set up Siri again.
Requests				Choose how you want to activate Siri. You can choose to activate Siri with your voice by saying “Hey Siri” or “Siri,” or turn off listening and click the Siri icon or use a keyboard shortcut instead. To check whether “Hey Siri” or “Siri” is available for your device, language, and region, see the macOS Feature Availability website.
Language				Change the language and dialect to use with Siri. Siri isn’t available in all languages or countries or regions. See Change Siri’s language.
Voice				Select a preferred voice for Siri from the Variations options and the Voices options. Some languages may only have one option. See Change Siri’s voice.
About Improve Siri, Dictation & Privacy				Learn how Siri may send certain data to Apple to process and help respond to your requests, and how you can control what data is stored.
Responses				Choose one of the following options: Prefer Silent Responses Automatic Prefer Spoken Responses Choose Always Show Request to show a transcription of your speech onscreen. See Change how Siri responds.
Siri App				Use these settings to Change Siri app settings. Note: These options are only available with Siri AI (Beta).* See Change Siri App settings.
ChatGPT				Choose to use ChatGPT to help write text, create an image, answer questions, and more. Note: This option is only available with Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 is not available in all languages or regions. Usage limits may apply.* Do any of the following: Sign in to your ChatGPT account: Click Sign In, then follow the onscreen instructions. Upgrade to ChatGPT Plus: Click Upgrade to ChatGPT Plus. Send requests to ChatGPT without confirming: Turn off Confirm Requests.
Automatic Visual Look Up				Select whether you want to automatically identify objects and places that appear in screenshots. Note: This option is only available with Apple Intelligence.
App Access				Choose the apps you want Siri to learn from and show Siri suggestions for. See Customize apps Siri has access to.
Turn Off Siri				Click to turn off Siri.
